This is the lazy girl’s way of making your own banana deep conditioning mask – for those days when you are not in the mood but your hair needs love and hydration. And ironically enough while I’m writing this post I’m munching on some dried banana slices. Yum! But not only are bananas very tasty, they are extremely beneficial to the hair and skin.
Why do you ask? Well, bananas contain lots of fibre, which makes them great energy boosters. They also contain potassium, iron, Vitamin B6 and B12. This amazing fruit can regulate the blood pressure, help with improving the nerve system is a stress reliever and helps with anaemia. Amazing, no?
But what can bananas do for our hair? Banana masks help with dry hair and itchy scalp. They keep the hair hydrated and healthy. If used regularly on the hair, bananas can help increase the moisture in it and smooth out frizz. Now on to the actual post!
The title says it all – this is an easy breezy homemade deep conditioner. It helps with dry ends and smooths the hair giving it more body and lustre. The best thing about this hair mask is that you need only two ingredients and just 5 minutes to prepare.
What you will need:
- Bowl to mix the ingredients
- Overripe banana
- Favourite store-bought hair mask (possibly containing no harsh chemicals and/or silicones). The purpose of the mask is to add more texture and additional conditioning.
Steps:
- Mash up the banana well
- Add in 2 or 3 spoons of the hair mask into the banana mush, depending on your hair length.
- Leave the mask on your hair for about an hour. After that wash and condition as usual. Your hair should feel softer, look shinier and bouncier.
All in all, this is a very easy and quick way to restore your hair and detangle. Do this mask once every other week and you should start seeing positive results very soon. Check out another one of my favourite homemade hair masks here!
As always – I hope this post was helpful!
